Bentonite mud is the unsung hero. Correctly engineered mud handles cuttings, lubricates the bore, and stabilises the wall. Poor mud management is, by far, the single biggest cause of HDD failures in our field experience.
Modern walk-over and gyro guidance systems give us sub-meter accuracy even at 30m depth. Combined with disciplined exit-side coordination, this is what makes a flawless crossing repeatable.
